How Insane Impact Delivered Big Ten-Quality Visuals on an Impossible Timeline

Setting the Scene

Transforming the Lakefront into Big Ten Territory

Big Ten football doesn't take an off-season, so when Northwestern University needed a temporary home for their games during stadium construction, they didn't just look for a field—they looked to the stunning shoreline of Lake Michigan. With only 75 days until kickoff, the university faced a massive logistical challenge: turning a scenic lakefront spot into a fully functional, high-energy Big Ten stadium. The unique geography created unprecedented sightline hurdles, as the majority of seats in the north and south end zones risked being blocked from viewing standard video board placements.

Making an Impact

Innovative Engineering Meets Rapid Deployment

Insane Impact answered the call with a custom-engineered dual-display solution designed to guarantee every fan a perfect view by installing:

  • A dynamic LED screen system featuring two main video boards—each spanning 40 feet wide—angled precisely to maximize visibility from the end zones.
  • Two 195-foot ribbon LED boards, integrating crisp, high-resolution visuals throughout the temporary venue.

Beyond the installation, our commitment to excellence shone through during the 2025 season when our team mobilized resources and flew in a technician at 3 a.m. to resolve a critical system issue just hours before a sellout game.

This project stands as a testament to our rapid deployment capabilities and unwavering dedication to excellence, proving that even with the tightest deadlines, we deliver flawless execution.
