AUDIENCE

A bigger venue doesn’t necessarily mean you need a bigger screen. What matters more is how your audience is going to view the screen. Is everyone spread out or moving like they would at a festival or race? Or is everyone congregated around a platform or even the screen itself? When thinking about your audience, you need to consider how far away people will be and perhaps how many people there will be. The further away, the bigger screen. If you are dealing primarily with a congregated audience (concert, viewing party, etc.) the more people, the bigger the screen.

CONTENT

What sort of content are you displaying? A leader board with names is viewed differently than a movie. When you need your audience to be able to read what is on the screen, the text has to be a certain height to be widely viewable.Think about the vision test at the eye doctor. Not everyone can see the smallest font on the bottom line. That has to be accommodated for when you’re incorporating a screen into your event. Often, people think they can add more text by making the font smaller, but that defeats the purpose in that many people will lose visibility once the text gets too small.
